How to use Cheat Codes with the ePSXe Emulator
Making use of CodeBreaker as well as Gameshark cheat codes using an ePSXe emulator is very simple! Select the game you wish to play, and then fire the emulator. After you’re playing, you can close the emulator like that you had closed the application (use the X on the upper right-hand corner) and it will close the screen, but not the entire emulator.
If you follow this procedure correctly (it’s basically just pressing the”X”) you’ll see the ePSXe box that’s similar to the one seen in my screen shot and the same box that you were shown before selecting the game you’d like to play. Use the toolbar on top, click Options , and scroll down to Cheat codes, as like the screen photo below.
Select Cheat code to open you to the following box, which is located in the opposite screen shown below. The boxes will remain blank until you click the download button at the lower right-hand part of the screen. If you’re connected the internet, it will download all stored cheat codes for your game. ….
Remember that this is not all of the cheats that are available, but those which the author took time to include. If you’d like to add more cheats this list, then keep studying!

The process of adding cheats adding cheats to your ePSXe emulator is fairly easy. The first step is to locate the folder in which you have the emulator stored in. It might be located in My Documents or under My Programs It’s all dependent on the location you saved it. As you can see in the image below I have mine in Downloads just because it’s the location I stored it.
Within the ePSXe folder, there’s another folder called cheats. Open that folder and you’ll be able to see text files inside. If you’re the first time playing this section there will only be only one text file that’s the one associated for that game in which you’re currently playing. For those who have hit ‘Download’ for many games will be able to download numerous text files. In this instance you can sort them by Date altered to locate your game.
The way that these files are organized is based on the game’s ID at the time it was made. There are two types of games you might recognize, NTSC commonly refers to games designed specifically for the USA or America. In contrast, PAL is commonly used to describe games made for UK and European countries. In general, PAL games feature multiple language settings, whereas NTSC games are only available in English.
Below, I’ve included an overview about the different kinds and what they refer to.
SCUS (NTSC) Sony Created USA
(NTSC) Sony Licence USA: (NTSC) Sony Licence USA
(PAL) Sony Created Europe: (PAL) Sony Created Europe
SLES (PAL) Sony Licence Europe
If you’re unable to figure out what game you’d like for your codes, then the best method to determine it instead of sorting it by date modified is by searching for the SCUS, SCES, SLUS or SLES along with the number. This will reveal which game it is associated with.
In the event that you’ve figured everything out, let’s get to the final step of the whole process – how you can add your code to the list of codes contained in the ePSXe. First , double-click the notepad file that is associated with the game you’re playing to open the code list.
Note the format that the codes in this document use…
#Name of Code
0000000 0000
#Name of Code
0000000 0000
If you want to include your own codes in this list, it is recommended to follow this format. In the screen shot shown above , you’ll see that these codes highlighted ones that I’ve personally added. The rest of the codes were provided with the game once I clicked the Download button that we spoke about earlier.
Simple enough, right? The last step is the most crucial part of the whole… After you’ve entered your codes into Notepad Notepad document and then saved it – DO NOT DOWNLOAD after you’ve added your codes Then click DOWNLOAD! It will erase any codes you have added to the file and will redownload from the original list. In order for the game updated with the updated codes, close the game completely and start it up again. The new codes will be in the game.
