fortitude runeword d2 is among the very few Rune Words that works in both weapons and Armor. Fortitude is a Rune Word is geared more toward melee fighters because of the Enhanced Damage of 300% it offers when placed on armor. I have seen the frequently asked question on the internet about how the Fortitude Rune word’s Enhanced Damage can be used on armor, so let me try to provide the answer…
Enhanced Damage can be applied in different ways on your person when not a weapon. It is known as “Off-weapon ED” or “Off-weapon damage” in these cases. What the game basically does is to calculate your weapon’s damage first, as well as all the bonuses you can get on your weapon before incorporating the “off-weapon ED” and applies that amount to the total damage that is done. There are excellent writeups on the game on this site in addition to this is an acceptable game.
The quick answer is Yes, Enhanced Damage in Fortitude when added to your armor will increase 100% the damage you receive from Melee. For example, some of my websites that I refer to in the preceding paragraph “The combination of weapon Enhanced Damage and % Damage normally has the most significant impact on attack damage: for example, 300% Enhanced Damage results in 4 times base weapon damage while +300% Damage results in 4 times attack damage; together, this results in attack damage 16 times base weapon damage without any other damage bonuses.”
Remember that every Rune Words you create will keep any existing bonuses within the product. If you come across a “Superior piece of armor featuring enhanced defense, a Superior Weapon that has +Enhanced Damage, or a helmet or weapon that offers bonuses to improve your skills for a particular class, then all of these will be included in the ultimate Rune Word that is created. It is also possible to “ebug” a piece that is Ethereal Armor that you find that will boost the Defense bonus by 50 percent. Check for my Ebugging guide for more details.
